OVELICHENIA WINS FANTASY VUELTA AS CONTADOR DELIVERS FOR ASTANA!
The final Velogames Fantasy Grand Tour of 2008 capped a superb sporting year for Spain, as Kaka's Ovelichenia team took top honours after the three-week grind. The final finish was awfully tight, with long-term Velogames squad The Banshees, directed by Erwin Munsterman of The Netherlands, a mere 16 points behind.
The Ovelichenia squad was a powerhouse, containing top GC men Alberto Contador, Carlos Sastre, Ezekiel Mosquera, Joaquin Rodriguez and points-jersey winner Greg Van Avermaet.
In the real Vuelta, Alberto Contador delivered another Grand Tour win for Astana. After last year's Tour de France victory, and the Giro win in early Summer, the Spaniard joins a select group of riders who have won all three Grand Tours.
It should be interesting next year - especially if a certain Texan returns to the peloton to ride in the same team.

Introduction to Fantasy Vuelta 2008
The last Grand Tour of 2008, the Vuelta a Espana, promises to be a hard-fought affair, as the Spanish favourites go head-to-head with other leading riders who are on the hunt for a late-season victory.
As always, Velogames will be there, with the Fantasy Vuelta 2008!
In the Fantasy Vuelta, players act as team directeurs sportifs, in charge of their own 9-rider roster. Pick your team by keeping within budget and by selecting the right composition of all-rounders, climbers, sprinters and loyal domestiques. If you pick well, you could lead your squad to the Amarillo jersey, and glory in Madrid!
Riders score points based on a detailed scoring system that rewards all aspects of the performances seen at the Vuelta a Espana. In addition to points for stage results and yellow jersey standings, the points and mountains classifications also have their rewards in Velogames points.
The scoring system also allows you to follow your team live on-the-road, as they rack up points for breakaways, hot-spot sprints and mountain summits. Last, but by no means least, assist points give rewards for the hard-working team-riders who sacrifice their own chances to support their team leaders.
